1. Houston Texans- DE Jadeveon Clowney – South Carolina
Clowney is a once in a decade player. There are questions about his motor and commitment to football but after his rookie season no one will be questioning either of those things. Clowney and J.J. Watt would make a deadly tandem for any offense.
2. St Louis Rams- WR Sammy Watkins – Clemson
Many people have the Rams taking a tackle here. I dont know if the Rams want to take a tackle this high. The last time they took a tackle this high, it didn’t turn out well for them. Jason Smith is one of the biggest busts of the last decade. The Rams do need to sure up their oline but I think they wait to take a tackle with their second first round pick. Sammy Watkins is a can’t miss WR and would be a nice compliment to their offense next to Tavon Austin.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars – QB Blake Bortles – UCF
With Bortles dropping into their lap, I dont think the Jags will pass on him. The Jags have had little success since the old days of Mark Brunell. Bortles has a strong arm and I believe he is the best QB in the draft with the most potential. Blackmon and Bortles could be a deadly combination in the future.
4. Cleveland Browns – QB Johnny Manziel – Texas A&M
Many are conflicted of where Manziel will end up but I think the Browns are in dire need of a face for the franchise. Whether he be polarizing or not, Manziel will certainly bring attention wherever he goes. Cleveland needs to ignite its fan base and will roll the dice on Johnny Football Mania.
5. Oakland Raiders – OLB Khalil Mack – Buffalo
The Raiders can not afford to miss on this pick. After losing DE Lamar Houston, Oakland has to do something to bolster their defense. Julius Peppers may help but he is on the downside of his career and Mack is a versatile OLB that can do it all, cover, pass rush, and stop the run.
6. Atlanta Falcons – DE/OLB Anthony Barr – UCLA
With Khalil Mack gone, the Falcons could go oline here and take a tackle but they need to add to their defense and make their pass rush better and Barr is the next best pass rusher after Clowney and Mack.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – WR Mike Evans -Texas A&M
I dont believe the Bucs will take a QB here. Despite what many believe I dont think they have given up on Mike Glennon yet. They also signed QB Josh McCown who is a solid backup and could start if needed. With Mike Williams in Buffalo I think they look to add to their WR core and add another version of Vincent Jackson with Mike Evans.
8. Minnesota Vikings – QB Derek Carr – Fresno State
I was conflicted here between Carr and Teddy Bridgewater. I think the Vikings love Carr a little more than Bridgewater. Many teams are afraid of Bridgewater after his pro day and I believe that will cause him to slip. The Vikings would love for Bortles to fall here but I think they take the best QB available, Derek Carr.
9. Buffalo Bills – TE Eric Ebron – North Carolina
The Bills do have many glaring needs but I believe they want to keep getting their young QBsome weapons. They added Mike Williams in the offseason and adding Ebron would really go a long way to keeping their QB happy. Ebron is a matchup problem on the field. He plays like Vernon Davis to me, not the same 40 speed but the same game speed. Ebron will be a force early and often.
10. Detroit Lions – S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix – Notre Dame
Everyone is switching on this pick but I think Detroit will look to add a safety that will solidify the back end of their secondary.
11. Tennessee Titans – QB Teddy Bridgewater – Louisville
With everyone looking for Tennessee to go defense I think they make the pick of the draft and take Teddy and give up on the Jake Locker project.
12. Giants – T Gregg Robinson – Auburn
The Giants waste no time making this pick and draft a tackle that they have needed for two years. Eli needs better protection and gets it in this young athletic tackle that helped Auburn lead the nation in rushing yards per game.
13. St Louis – T Jake Matthews – Texas A&M
The Rams get a steal here draft a tackle to help protect Sam Bradford who is coming off a torn ACL. I am pretty sure he wil be clapping a lot after the Rams first two picks of the draft.
14. Chicago Bears – DT Timmy Jernigan – FSU
Bears need some help stopping the run. In my eyes this Jernigan is the best DT in the draft and is a beast up the middle. He reminds me a lot of Warren sapp with his quick hands and burst off the ball.
15. Pittsburgh Steelers – CB Justin Gilbert- Oklahoma State
Gilbert is the best corner in the draft and Ike Taylor is aging and was abysmal last year. With young wide receivers A.J. Green, Torrey Smith, and Josh Gordon, the Steelers need to add a young solid corner to their secondary.
16. Dallas Cowboys – T Taylor Lewan – Michigan
Taylor Lewan will slip because of his character issues but Jerry Jones is not worried about his issues and will draft Lewan to help protect his franchise QB Tony Romo.
17. Baltimore Ravens – T Zach Martin – Notre Dame
As bad as fans will like to see a wide receiver drafted here or another playmaker, the Ravens must address the offensive line. Ray Rice had his worst year as a rusher and Joe Flacco was under constant pressue. Martin would be the best pick here.
18. N.Y. Jets – CB Darqueze Dennard – Michigan State
The Jets addressed their WR need with signing of Eric Decker. I think they will wait til the next round to get another playmaker and go with the most physical CB in the draft to help their defense.
19. Miami Dolphins – S Calvin Pryor – Louisville
The Dolphins made some moves in free agency but they need to address the secondary in the draft. Their defense was ranked 6th against the pass last season and adding a young physical safety would definitely sure up the back end of their defense.
20. Arizona Cardinals – DE Kony Ealy – Missouri
A lot of people think the Cards will pull the trigger on a QB here but I believe all the QBs with a first round grade will be gone and I believe they look to make their pass rush better and draft one of the best defensive ends Kony Ealy.
21. Green Bay Packers – OLB Ryan Shazier – Ohio State
A few years back the Packers drafted OLB Nick Perry but his lack of speed exposes them against mobile QBs. I believe they will look to add some speed on the other side of Clay Matthews just so they dont get exposed anymore.
22. Philadelphia Eagles – WR Brandin Cooks – Oregon State
Cooks is a good receiver with elite speed. The Eagles need to replace Desean Jackson and Cooks should be a worth replacement. He has the speed but will need to improve his route running but should be a good compliment to Cooper and Maclin.
23. Kansas City Chiefs – WR Marqise Lee- USC
With Cooks gone I think the Chiefs will be choosing between Odeel Beckham Jr and Lee but I believe Lee wins out because he is a little more ready while Beckham has the speed but not the route running skills that Lee has.
24. Cincinnati Bengals – CB Kyle Fuller – VA Tech
The Bengals will look to add a corner because they need some depth and youth at corner. Their former first round pick, Dre Kirkpatrick has not lived up to the hype and they will look to another young corner to revitalize the secondary.
25. San Diego Chargers – DT Louis Nix III – Notre Dame
Nix would be a great pick for the Chargers here because he fits their 3-4 defense perfectly and would be great for their run defense.
26. Cleveland Browns – ILB C.J. Mosley – Alabama
If Mosley fall here I believe the Browns will be elated. With the loss of D’Qwell Jackson the Browns will need a young linebacker to fill the whole and Mosley is a beast.
27. New Orleans Saints – DT Aaron Donald – Pittsburgh
The Saints could use a nice big strong presence to solidify their dline. They have good pass rushers but Donald is a strong D-linemen that could could play anywhere along the line and had a great showing during senior week.
28. Carolina Panthers – OT Morgan Moses – Virginia
The Panthers will not get the WR they want unless they trade up. Sitting at 28 they will have to take the next best thing and a player they like in Morgan Moses.
29. New England Patriots – WR Kelvin Benjamin – FSU
The Patriots are a solid team across the board but they need a big red zone presence and physical WR and Benjamin would be that.
30. San Franciso 49ers – TE Jace Amaro – Texas Tech
The 49ers could use a big WR but with Benjamin gone they take Amaro and use him as a second tight end and even WR just like the Saints do with Jimmy Graham.
31. Denver Broncos – G Xavier Su’a-Filo – UCLA
The Broncos take the best player available and look to add more protection for Peyton Manning
32. Seattle Seahawks – DE Dee Ford – Auburn
After missing out on the Jared Allen sweepstakes the Seahawks upgrade through the draft and draft the underraated DE out of Auburn
