Northwestern Wildcats

Head Coach: Pat Fitzgerald

Offensive Outlook:

Key Players (Offense): QB Kain Colter (SR), RB Venric Mark (SR)

Last season, the Northwestern Wildcats opened a lot of eyes by finishing their season 10-3. Pat Fitzgerald is doing a marvelous job in Evanston, Illinois. They finished #3 in the Legends Division. This year they return 8 starters on O including their two-headed rushing attack of, QB Kain Colter and RB Venric Mark. Together they combined for over 2,000 yards rushing and 24 TDs, but i believe in order for Northwestern to duplicate that success again this year, they will need a WR to step up so they can take advantage of teams putting 8 and 9 (players) in the box. Look for WR Christian Jones to step up as he enters his junior season.

Defensive Outlook:

Key Players (Defensive): MLB Daimen Proby (SR), SS Ibraheim Campbell Jr. (JR)

The Northwestern defense returns it’s top tackler and their best defensive back. Damien Proby was all over the field last year at MLB and even showed he can cover a little by breaking up 3 passes. Campbell Jr. was a beast in the secondary and totaled 12 breakups and showed he is a solid tackler, as well, as he collected 89 tackles last season. This defense has a lot of upperclassmen in the front seven and two in the secondary. I believe with all of the experience on D, the Wildcats should finish in the top half of the Big 10 in defense.

Prediction: 8-4 (3rd in the Legends Division)

The Wildcats will find a passing game to compliment their rushing attack, but while I do believe their D will play well, I don’t believe that it will play well enough to stop Wisconsin and Nebraska on the road. However, I’m placing Ohio State on upset alert; I believe the Wildcats will upset them at home.
